With extensive training and experience as a midwife 2004-2014, at St Mary’s Manchester, I worked in Fetal Medicine, antenatal and postnatal wards and delivery suite specialising in caring for families experiencing fetal abnormalities, pregnancy loss, stillbirth and neonatal death. When I moved to Carlisle in 2014 I didn’t get the same amount of experience due to lower population numbers but I continued this passion to help those suffering loss. I left midwifery in early 2021 and have had jobs since in funeral care, both having the privilege of caring for the deceased and dealing with bereaved families. I opened Walkies with Elaine in January 2022 as my dog was unable to do big walks due to age and poor health. This grew and I was unable to do both unfortunately. I don’t want to waste any of my skills on dealing with the bereaved. I have experienced the loss of 3 beloved dogs so have first hand experience of just how painful it is to lose a precious pet. And we said goodbye to one of my Walkies with Elaine dogs in 2023. I want to use my experience and passion for helping others. I am offering a safe space for those who want to explore their feelings at the loss of any beloved pet in a non judgmental setting. Pets are so much a family member. And yet still those who don’t experience the loss of a beloved pet will never understand the depth of the loss felt. I would hope any of those close to me could turn to me for support but I wish to extend this to help others.
I am offering a 60 minute session, free of charge, to those experiencing loss of a beloved pet. This could be after loosing them or helping with the anticipatory grief of a poorly pet. This support can be in person, on the telephone, text, messaging, email, voice notes. You decide how you would like to get in touch. Please also see our Facebook page.
